Call from the Shadows

*~Ebonite tinted steed appeared in a small clearing of trees. Pelt of midnight azure gleaming softly next to th' creek 'e stood grey hues glinting as they always did. 'e let lose unsure lyrics to 'is followers known as th' neutrals. 'e was brought back to 'is usual stance under th' lightly shaded trees that cast a shadow of emerald down 'pon 'im. Proud dial held high and fast, 'is audits pricked to catch th' slightest sounds as 'is gathering call reverberated 'roud 'im.~*

Crimson fae moved towards the stag, her delicate hooves splashing gently through the bubbling creek.
Lana bowed her head to the king, but her eyes held no respect. Her body was shaking with supressed rage.
She knew of the new that the king would soon break but she could never agree with his decision.
Turning her head away the prophet waited for her fellows to answer their kings call.

Jasmine walked in looking round, Zarla beside 'er. she walked towards 'im, slowly, smiling.
Grey Desert cantered in and at seeing 'is dam and the flicka, walked towards them. 'e looked at the filly, guessing she was 'is sibling.
RedRiver walked in, breathless, 'e stared at the mare and 'er son, 'e walked forward, glancing at them. The mare reminded 'im of 'is father. 'e wondered if this could be Jasmine and 'er son of the desert.
A equine stood partly hidden from view in the shadows, stopping 'imself from walking out to meet the three

Samos stepped forward, keeping a close eye on Red. He dipped his dial to the other equines gathered and sidled up next to his friend.
Raising his sizable head Samos looked around. The equines gathered were either annoyed or anxious. Samos did not know how he felt.
He spotted a small mare with anger glinting in her eyes.
There was a mare with a young flicka and a stag.
In the shadows Samos could sense a second stag who did not want to be seen. Samos left it that way. Twitching uneasily Samos stood silently and waited for the king to make his address.

Red greeted Samos with a nicker, then turned back to face the King.
The shadow equine, smiled at seeing the new stag standing beside RedRiver, then stepped deeper into the shadows, watching Moon.

*~Azure steed nodded to each in greeting, 'is darkened tresess swingin lightly with each. 'e smiled back to Jasmine and nuzzled 'er and Zarla. 'is stony gaze turned back to 'is fellows 'is deep voice ringing out.
Fellows from th' shadows I bring news from our fellow darks. Th' dark king Legesain, before 'is death from th' sacred ones came to me asking for an alliance between th' neutrals and th' darks. Since th' lights had not come to me before I accepted and th' colt I adopted from th' desert became betrothed to th' dark god and a lights Femora Hope's Rebellion.
'is orbs wandered to Grey Desert with th' faintest of nods and returned to 'is companions.
We greatly outnumber th' lights as we stand near th' darks now.~*
*~Th' crimson femora gazed from th' shadows of th' trees, 'er sapphire orbs glinting at 'is news 'he stepped forward beside 'er mate and surveyed them all, stopping as 'he looked at Red, 'er firstborn.~*

The crimson fae shook her head gently. He looked up at the king, orbs no longer filled with anger, only saddness. The prophet sighed. She knew what would happen.
The dark/neutral alliance would not last long. Yes the neutrals may help the darks win the war, but that would not be the end of it. Once the darks had won, there was no stopping them dropping the neutrals like flies. Either decision the king had made, would lead to the destruction of the neutrals.
Lana stepped away, moving towards the back of the gathering.

The shadowed equine, who had not see 'is beloved mate, jumped in suprise, nuzzling 'er and smiling. 'e looked at Grey Desert, seeing the joy in 'is nephew's eyes. 'e was also glad 'is only son 'ad found a friend.
Grey Desert looked at the prophet, seeing 'er sadness. 'e felt eyes watching 'im from the shadows and press closer to Jasmine.

Lana looked up at saw Grey Desert. His he had striking resembalance to his father Ezekiel, Lana's old love. She turned away to crush memories that tried to swamp her.

Zephyr galloped in, and he listened to the equine's words. He didn't understand, if he'd had any say in this, he wouldn't have allowed it. But he knew he must accept the decision. It was too late now.
Unity galloped in and looked for Blue Moon. She saw Zephyr. She had heard about the decision, and couldn't decide wether she liked the decision or not.

Samos looked around at Red, wanting to know his friends thoughts on this bold decision. His eyes were clouded with worry as he thought of the war they would soon face. He looked back at the king and bent his fores slightly, bowing down, slowing all his allegance to the kings cause.

Sunset Embers, fine lined, fire licked mare plodded in slowly, halting still half in the trees, usually bright golden eyes now sad and dull, once glistening banners and coat dirty and tattered and her pelt was stretched over her dangerously thin frame, her form almost skeletal. She who was once beautiful and radiant was no more. She had been alone for a long time now, alone and broken hearted. The last equine she had spoken with was the King himself. She looked to him now, hoping that he would remember her, though she was in such a bad way now that she feared he wouldn't even recognise her. She had heard the call and come, but she didn't know what was going on. She pulled her pleading gaze from the King and lowered her head, closing the lids over sore eyes and blinking saline tears from them. Her hind legs suddenly gave way underneath her and she collapsed onto her rump, then let her forelegs fold and slide under her frail body. Finally she couldn't hold her head up any more and she relaxed her slender boa, allowing her tiara to drop onto the grass with a gentle thud. She lay there breathing, her breath rattling her body. She was dying in the most painful, cruel way possible, dying of a broken heart.

Samos turned and saw the mare collaspe. His heart flew to her. He stepped forward and bent his muzzle to her own.
Fae,
he said softly,
Come, we must get some water and food into you.
he spoke quietly, hoping not to alert any of the other horses. he stepped closer to her and pushed his cran under her belly, trying to push her to her feet.
